Years go by so quick
while hours go by so slow
it wasn't until last night
that we saw you getting
older
tired
and patches of healing skin
from bruises
unaware
Though we all see
how we connect to our grandmothers
and how we don't connect with our mothers
until they become like theirs
So we're watching the first leaves come down
in mid Summer
and we didn't fear death
until we released there would be
one less glass
of tea
but I see her in my mother now
and in my aunt
Though I have yet to see
either of them in me

Anything that envolves "mother" when you write comes as a suprise to me... I don't know why.
